“Adding Sparkle & Texture to Your Quilts”
Whether you’re interested in trying bead embellishment for the first time or you’ve done some embellishment but are looking for additional inspiration, this lecture is for you. You’ll learn step-by-step instructions for embellishing your quilts and garments with beads and see 75-100 images of Lisa’s beadwork for additional inspiration. This lecture includes the display of some of my quilts and smaller framed work and is about 1 hour in length, including time for Q&A with the audience.
“Bead Embellishment Design on Quilts”
This one-hour presentation focuses on the wide variety of approaches quilt makers can take to planning bead embellishment designs for their quilts. During the talk participants will see many images of different approaches to beadwork design, and Lisa will discuss design principles including value, contrast, balance, density, and line work. Participants will also go home with information about bead and thread selection, beading needles, and stabilizer use for securing their beaded handwork.
This is a lecture and slide show about my development as a fiber artist with images of the many art pieces I've made. I bring available original work for display. In addition to talking about inspiration, the various techniques I use, and information about each piece individually, this lecture focuses on the many ways that of our lives feed our creative process and can be the inspiration for our work as stitchers. Because so much of my work includes beads, I also provide a brief history of beads and their evolution as a medium for creative expression from tens of thousands of years ago through today. This lecture is about 1 hour in length, including time for Q&A with the audience.
"Working in Series to Spark Creativity"
In this lecture and slide show I discuss some of the many processes and benefits of working in series while sharing many images of my embellished quilts and fiber and beadwork sculptures that I have created as parts of different series. I discuss ways to get started creating a series and the challenges and creative benefits that can come from working in this way. In addition to showing dozens of images of my work, I bring some of my quilts and sculptural fiber work for audiences to see and discuss in person. This lecture is about 1 hour in length, including time for Q&A with the audience.
