North Carolina quilt artist Nancy Cook has written a really nice review of the book Creative Quilting with Beads. I was very excited to have three of my quilts included in the gallery portion of the book: Between the Woods and Frozen Lake; Going In; and Seedlings. Another Upcoming Exhibition
This has been a nice week for news about juried exhibitions. I learned yesterday that "Mother and Child" will be part of the Women's Works 2012 25th anniversary exhibition at the Old Court House Arts Center in Woodstock, IL this spring (March 8 - April 30, 2012). The center looks like a beautiful historic building, and I'm really looking forward to visiting it and the exhibition.

Upcoming Exhibition
If you will be in the southeastern Wisconsin region between late March and mid July, be sure to stop by the Museum of Wisconsin Art (in West Bend) to see the invitational exhibition Uncommon Threads: Contemporary Wisconsin Textiles that will be on display. I'm not sure yet who else is in the exhibition, but I was excited today to receive word that two of my heavily embellished quilts: "Recapitulata (Echo Flower)" and "Going In" will be included in it. New Fabrics for Kits
I realized this morning that my once sizable stash of border prints (which I use as the base for my ornament/medallion designs and kits as well as for some of my one-of-a-kind artwork) is running low, so I had fun shopping for new prints today. I found one in particular I absolutely love. It comes in four colorways, and I couldn't narrow down my selection, so I bought several yards of each of the four! I'm not sure yet whether I'll create one new ornament/medallion design in four different colorways (I've done this with two but I have yet to try four), or four different designs. Stay tuned! Newest project design
I'll be teaching "Dragonfly Fiesta" (below) on Sunday, February 19, 2012 to members of the Huntsville, Alabama chapter of the Embroiderers Guild of America. That class is already full, and I've been getting questions about when I'll be teaching it again. So I wanted to post that I also plan to teach it on Sunday, November, 4, 2012 at Mill House Quilts in Waunakee, Wisconsin. I've got at least two more designs in the works using different colorways of these amazing Czech glass dragonfly buttons. So stay tuned!

Affirmative Quilt Challenge
January 1, 2012: Happy New Year! I was excited to learn that one of my embroideries/quilts is among six quilt finalists in the Affirmative Quilt Challenge sponsored by Quilting Arts Magazine. I'm shipping "Floating and Grounded" (below) to Quilting Arts this week. I'll post more once I know where it can be seen online or in print.
